2019 Civic vs 2019 Corolla Performance Specs

2019 Honda Civic

The 2019 Honda Civic and 2019 Toyota Corolla offer comfortable rides with smooth, responsive handling. However, the Civic is often seen as the more dynamic automobile.

After all, it has two engine options, which are both quite powerful. For instance, the available 1.5L turbocharged 4-cylinder engine delivers 174 horsepower and 167 lb-ft of torque. Plus, the engine is mated to a continuously variable transmission (CVT), which gives you plenty of power without sacrificing fuel efficiency.

In fact, the Honda Civic can achieve up to an EPA-estimated 32 city/42 highway MPG, which is great for especially long commutes.*

Unfortunately, the Toyota Corolla isn't quite as powerful nor as efficient. It comes with a 1.8L 4-cylinder engine that delivers just 132 horsepower and 128 lb-ft of torque. Plus, the vehicle achieves an EPA-estimated 28 city/36 highway MPG. While still commendable, you may not get as far as you could in the Civic before needing to refuel.

Passenger & Cargo Room in the Civic vs Corolla

Although these vehicles are in the compact car class, they each have more than enough room for five people.

With the 2019 Honda Civic, you'll find plenty of wiggle room since it provides 39.3 inches of front headroom, 42.3 inches of front legroom, and 97.8 cubic feet of passenger volume.

The Toyota Corolla does offer the same amount of front legroom. However, it falls a bit short when it comes to front headroom and overall passenger volume at 38.3 inches and 97.5 cubic feet, respectively.

Cargo room also differs slightly with these vehicles. While the Honda gives you 15.1 cubic feet of trunk space, the Toyota only gives you 13 cubic feet. As a result, you may not be able to pack everything you'd like into the Corolla.

However, both models offer 60/40 split-folding rear seats. So, if you need to bring along some bigger items, you can do so easily in either automobile.

Honda Civic vs Toyota Corolla Interior Features

2019 Honda Civic

The 2019 Civic and 2019 Corolla have lots of impressive interior features to help keep everyone happy, such as available heated front seats. However, the Honda also offers heated rear seats, so everyone on board can stay toasty on even the coldest nights.

They do share a lot of the same technologies, such as Bluetooth®, HD Radio™, and SiriusXM® Satellite Radio. They also each offer advanced navigation systems to help you get to your destination quickly yet safely.

Furthermore, the Honda Civic offers Apple CarPlay™ and Android Auto™ smartphone integration. With this feature, you can use your favorite apps-like text messages and podcasts-through the vehicle, so you don't need to mess with your phone while driving.

Unfortunately, the Toyota Corolla doesn't offer Apple CarPlay™ nor Android Auto™ in any of its trim levels.

Which Compact Car Is Right for You?

There's no doubt that the 2019 Toyota Corolla is an impressive automobile. However, the 2019 Honda Civic delivers not only a better overall performance, but more features, as well.
