The Honda Civic and the Toyota Camry each come equipped with some pretty sophisticated features. Each vehicle includes a dashboard-mounted display in their respective cabins.
You can use these screens to access your media options through Apple CarPlay® or Android Auto™ to help keep you and your passengers entertained on long commutes. Want to make hands-free calls? Bluetooth® is offered on both models!
The Honda Civic also comes with the speed-sensitive volume compensation. This feature recognizes when the sound of the engine performance is affecting your ability to hear your audio entertainment clearly. It will automatically adjust the audio levels to compensate for the loud engine noise.
Unfortunately for Camry drivers, this isn’t an offered feature.
The Civic and Camry both offer driver-assistive features at the base level, with Honda Sensing® and Toyota Safety Sense™, respectively. These features use exterior-mounted sensors that measure the vehicle’s proximity from the object ahead, while factoring in its rate of approach to determine when a collision is imminent.
Both the Honda Civic and Toyota Camry feature similar systems that offer collision mitigation and lane-keeping. However, the Honda Civic offers the Road Departure Mitigation system, which will vibrate the steering wheel when the Civic is veering off the road. It will also provide selective braking to help the vehicle avoid drifting further off the road.
The Camry comes with a similar feature, but this feature only provides a visual and/or audible alert when you drift from the marked lane. Steering assistance may occur, but brake assist isn’t a feature like it is with the Civic.
The Honda Civic and Toyota Camry offer different engines. The Civic comes standard with a 2.0L 4-cylinder engine mated to a continuously variable transmission. This particular transmission aids with efficiency by providing direct-gear transitions and smoother accelerations, which result in a more efficient performance.
The Camry, on the other hand, comes with a 2.5L 4-cylinder engine and an 8-speed automatic, which doesn’t offer the responsiveness of the CVT in the Civic. While a CVT is offered with the Camry, you can only get this with an optional upgrade. The Civic, however, comes standard with this feature.
