The Honda CR-V is a versatile midsize SUV that offers a comfortable ride and lots of safety and infotainment features. Is it capable of towing some extra cargo for you, too? Honda of Bay County finds out. To show drivers in Panama City, Springfield, and Callaway what it can do for you, we looked at the 2019 Honda CR-V towing capacity.

Honda CR-V Towing & Specs

2019 Honda CR-V

With its available trailer hitch, ball, and harness properly equipped, the Honda CR-V can tow up to 1,500 pounds. That’s enough power to bring an extra utility trailer on your vacation or get your fishing boat or some jet skis to the water.

Each one of its efficient engines can haul that cargo for you. The base engine is a 2.4L 4-cylinder engine that uses Intelligent Variable Valve Timing and Lift Electronic Control (i-VTEC®) to deliver up to 184 horsepower and 180 lb-ft of torque. The other option is a 1.5L 4-cylinder turbocharged powertrain that gets up to 190 horsepower and 179 lb-ft of torque.

Capable Towing Features

To help your SUV manage that extra cargo, the Honda CR-V offers lots of features that are designed to make towing safer and easier. It starts with helping you line up and connect with your trailer. The Multi-Angle Rearview Camera with Guidelines uses your dashboard monitor to show you what’s behind you and assist you with steering into place.

While you’re on the road, you can be confident when changing lanes, even with a long aluminum fishing boat hooked up to your SUV. An available Blind Spot Monitoring System lets you know when the coast is clear to change lanes.

While the Honda CR-V has standard front-wheel drive, a Real Time All-Wheel Drive with Intelligent Control System™ is available, too. Both drivetrains are capable of getting you and your gear through tough conditions with standard Hill Start Assist and Vehicle Stability Assist™ with Traction Control.

Cargo Carrying Options

2019 Honda CR-V

In addition to hitching a trailer to your SUV, the Honda CR-V offers lots of ways to load up. Inside, the trunk features 39.2 cubic feet of cargo room. When you need more space, you can use the easy fold-down 60/40 split rear seat to open up to 75.8 cubic feet of cargo room.

To make packing up your SUV more convenient, a Power Tailgate with Programmable Height is also available. Plus, with Hands-Free Access, you can open the trunk up while you’ve got your hands full. Just wave your foot in front of a sensor in the rear bumper.

If you’ve got cargo that’s longer or that you’d rather not keep inside, feel free to add some roof rails, too. These give you another way to carry your kayaks, water skis, or tie your Christmas tree to the roof.
