Honda Pilot Engine Power
As a full-size SUV, the 2018 Honda Pilot has a large engine to provide ample power. It has a standard 3.5L V6 engine with Intelligent Variable Valve Timing and lift Electronic Control (i-VTEC®). The advanced i-VTEC system maximizes power and fuel efficiency.
This engine gets 280 horsepower and 262 lb-ft of torque @ 4700 rpm. It also has a 11.5:1 compression ratio, has direct fuel injection, and has a 24-valve SOHC valve train.
Working alongside the engine is a 6-Speed Automatic Transmission (6AT). There is a larger transmission on the Pilot Touring and Elite trims. These two run on a 9-Speed Automatic Transmission (9AT) with Shift-By-Wire (SBW) and paddle shifters to let you control the gear shifts.
The i-VTEC and its Variable Cylinder Management help the 2018 Honda Pilot get an EPA-estimated 20 MPG city and 27 MPG highway1.
The Eco Assist™ System monitors your driving and gives you real time feedback on what kind of fuel consumption and efficiency you’re getting during your drive.
Thanks to these fuel saving technologies and design features, this SUV has been named an Ultra-Low-Emission Vehicle (ULEV-2) by the California Air Resources Board (CARB).
Honda Pilot Design & Drivetrain
The Honda Pilot was designed to be a capable and versatile SUV. It stars with its durable frame and Unit Body Construction.
The frame sits on a pair of reliable suspensions. Up front there’s a Macpherson Strut Front Suspension, while in back there’s a Multi-Link Rear Suspension. These suspensions work together with Electric Power-Assisted Rack-and-Pinion Steering (EPS) to allow the Pilot to get better maneuverability and handling.
This capable design comes together with the drivetrain. The available Intelligent Variable Torque Management™ (i-VTM4™) AWD System allows for greater traction and control while navigating slick or uneven terrain.
With standard 18-inch alloy wheels that are equipped with All-Season Tires, you’ll be able to tackle any driving conditions.
