Local Spotlight: Madfish Charters

Fishing on a Charter boatWelcome to our local spotlight on Madfish Charters, one of the top fishing charters in Panama City Beach, Florida. Check out this guide to learn more about the boat, the captain, the fish you’ll catch, and lots more.

Part 1: The Boat

We’ll start with the boat – it’s a 2015 24BX Sea Hunt Bay Boat with a Yamaha 300 4-Stroke Engine. In other words, you know that you’ll really be able to go after the fish that you want to catch. Some of its amenities include a T-top for shade, two livewells (one in the front and one in the back), storage for multiple rods, crucial safety and navigation equipment, bathroom facilities, and lots, lots more…basically, the whole nine yards.

Part 2: The Captain

Now, moving on to the captain – Scott Fitzgerald understands the ocean better than most men in this day and age. He’s fished for his entire life, including the Pacific from Peru to Alaska and the Atlantic from Key West to Maine. He’s been spending his days on the Gulf of Mexico for the last 15+ years, so you can rest assured that he knows these waters. And, since he knows the waters, he knows how to get you to the fish.

Part 3: The Catch

Speaking of the fish, your options include inshore fishing, bottom fishing, and offshore fishing. Take a look!

  • Inshore Fish Species: Redfish, Spotted Seatrout, Sheepshead, and Flounder
  • Bottom Fish Species: Red Snapper, Amberjack, Porgy Snapper, and Vermillion Snapper
  • Offshore Fish Species: King Mackerel, Mahi-Mahi, Blackfin Tuna, Bonita, and Cobia

Last, but certainly not least, read on to learn all that you need to know about the specifics of the charters.

In terms of fishing charters, they can take out the crew and up to five passengers for a minimum of four hours; however, if you have more than five people that you want to bring out, that’s really not a problem because they can coordinate with their vast network of local guides to accommodate some larger groups.

In terms of dolphin tours, there are two-hour private charters, three-hour private charters, and split charters available; all of these are for up to six people, so you can bring the entire family along for the fun.
